Before there were blogs there were these things called magazines, and the only metal magazine we still get excited about reading every month is DecibelHere’s managing editor Andrew Bonazelli…

Since we launched the Decibel Flexi Series nearly three years ago, we’ve brought you exclusive skullfucking savagery from the likes of Coffins, Autopsy, Wormrot and Agoraphobic Nosebleed. But nothing is as depraved, vile and extremely extreme as the flexi we’ve paired with July’s impromptu Jeff Hanneman tribute issue: clean-sung female-fronted acoustic action from Royal Thunder!

C’mon now—you know we’re just playing. Ever since Atlanta’s finest soulful blues/psych rockers unveiled CVI, we’ve been mega-fans, bestowing 9 out of 10 lead review honors in the June 2012 issue (Paradise Lost cover) and putting powerhouse frontwoman Mlny Parsonz on the cover of our Women in Metal issue alongside Kylesa’s Laura Pleasants and Cretin’s Marissa Martinez. And if you’ve heard CVI, you’re well aware that “Whispering World” is The Shit, a turbulent, fist-in-the-air mission statement that ties the room together and then some. So, while we patiently wait to see where RT go on their hotly-anticipated follow-up, turn on the A/C, take a chill pill and indulge in a more meditative but no less powerful acoustic version of “Whispering World.” Streaming below and available in limited quantities here in Decibel’s webstore on resplendent on white-on-blue plastic.

The July 2013 issue of Decibel also features Gojira, Children of Bodom, The Black Dahlia Murder, and an awesome Royal Thunder flexi disc. You can purchase it here. But why not just get a full subscription to ensure that you never miss an issue?
