Pretty Much the Craziest Tool Cover You’ll Ever Hear
Remember Sambo Ray, Jr. (his mommy calls him “Sam Westphalen”), the dude who did those totally nutty — but totally rad — acoustic covers of Pantera’s “Mouth for War” and “Seasons in the Abyss” by Slayer”? Well, now he’s released another way weird, way sweet metal cover — this one of Tool’s “Lateralus.” If I like it slightly less than his previous work, it’s only because he did the song as an instrumental this time, and I’m oddly fond of his most peculiar vocal style.
