Envy Japan 2013

It’s easy to have missed out on Envy: Their base is Japan, their profile is minuscule, and their jamz reside between already obscure genres like cinematic rock (like Explosions In The Sky) and, like, heavy melodic post-hardcore (like maybe East Of The Wall, Dredg, Mogwai, The Ocean). So it’s not like u have had a million impressions of Envy to push u into fandom.

But there’s an easy way to fix that and launch your love of an awesome band: For their 20th anniversary, Envy is set to release a box set of 14 vinyls that collect their 95-song discography. That’s like five albums, five EPs, and a whole whack of splits and junk. Which is awesome, cuz their stuff didn’t even reach America until 2008 — their masterpiece is 2003’s All The Footprints You’ve Left Behind And The Fear Expecting Ahead — and this new set includes an unreleased DVD and lyrics/translations in a coffee table book. It’ll be great to understand what all the screaming is about while u massage your overworked record-flipping wrists :) Here’s a jam from the Envy/Thursday split:

Envy’s Invariable Will, Recurring Ebbs And Flows box is out July 17 can be pre-ordered here
