Are you planning on recording your band’s demo — or, Christ help you, entire EP or LP — yourself? Do you have a question about production techniques, but don’t know anyone to whom you can direct that question? Fret not: Audiohammer Studios‘ Eyal Levi (who also sometimes writes for MetalSucks) has launched a new Tumblr page to answer such questions, and for free no less. Which is a pretty goddamn amazing resource.

For those of you not familiar with Eyal’s resumé, he’s worked with bands including, but not limited to, Job for a Cowboy, The Black Dahlia Murder, Misery Index, Whitechapel, Arsis, The Contortionist, Last Chance to Reason, Six Feet Under, and August Burns Red. Translation: he knows his shit, and any advice he can offer would-be producers would be invaluable.

I know I’m an old man who constantly marvels at how easy the internet has made it to interact with top-notch professionals in the metal world (“IT’S THE FUTURE!!!”), but seriously, it’s not like you could have just rattled off an e-mail to Flemming Rasmussen back in the day. I think if you’re planning to do any recording and you don’t take advantage of this, you’re outta your skull.
