Chuck Godless Best 2013 So Far

Chuck

Being the new guys at MetalSucks, I thought I would just give it to you straight instead of dropping in alphabetical order. If there is one thing I want to be able to do is judge albums against the overwhelming amount of crap that is on the shelves at your local record store, or promoted with shiny buttons on Itunes. Trying to get more than ten albums that were outstanding, was nearly impossible, but I have high hopes for the second half of the year.

Nails – Abandon All Life
Dillinger Escape Plan – One of Us Is the Killer
Cult of Luna – Vertikal
Clutch – Earth Rocker
Tomahawk – Oddfellows
Kvelertak – Meir
Arsis – Unwelcome
Devourment – Conceived In Sewage
Portal – Vexovoid
Soilwork – The Living Infinite

Godless

2013 may follow 2012 as the most interesting years for metal since the early 1990’s. Kvelertak released the first perfect metal album since Sepultura’s Arise, Altar of Plagues has overcome Enslaved’s RIITIIR as the best black metal since early Dark Throne, and Arsis… well, that album just kicks ass. Alphabetical lists are for pansies. Here’s the official list of best metal albums of the year so far, in order of their greatness.

1. Kvelertak – Meir
2. Altar of Plagues – Teethed Glory and Injury
3. Arsis – Unwelcome
4. Dillinger Escape Plan – One of Us Is the Killer
5. Nails – Abandon All Life
6. Clutch – Earth Rocker
7. Kylesa – Ultraviolet
8. Vhol – S/T
9. Chthonic – Bú-Tik
