Red Fang are Releasing a New Album and Going on Tour

Red Fang - Whales and Leeches

I highly recommend you click to enlarge the above image, the Orion Landau-designed album cover for Red Fang’s forthcoming album Whales and Leeches, set to come out in October (exact date TBA) via Relapse Records. Landau’s work is always stellar, and this one is no exception.

The band reunites with Decemberists’ multi-instrumentalist Chris Funk to handle production on the new record and taps mixer Vance Powell (White Stripes, Raconteurs, Kings of Leon) this time around. Based on that combo I fully expect the band to keep attacking the indie side of the music spectrum with the marketing and promotion of this record, if not the music itself. This is a pivotal record for the Fang — I feel like they’re right on the cusp of really breaking out in a big way — so it’ll be interested to hear how it turns out.
