Unsigned and Unholy: Nihilosaur, Kultika, Apey & The Pea

Hey now! These unsigned bands recently passed through the MetalSucks Mansion Inbox, and the MS Mansion Monkeys thought they were groovy enough to bring to our attention. Those Monkeys know a thing or two about good metal, and they were right as always.

Nihilosaur kind of sound like Coalesce meets English space rock band My Vitriol, equal parts post-punk techy skronk and spacey, atmospheric goodness. With something distinctly ’90s indie rock, ala Sonic Youth, or an influence I can’t quite place. I dig very much! You will too:

Kultika are from Romania, and they kind of remind me of what The Ocean might sound like if The Ocean’s compositions were just a tad simpler. This is fine, because while we love The Ocean their concepts can get a bit lofty at times… and often you just wanna rock out without sacrificing progressive composition. The following track comes from their forthcoming album The Strange Innerdweller, out this autumn:

Apparently I’m all about using other bands as reference points today, so let’s say that Hungarian band Apey & The Pea sound like Intronaut with Layne Staley on vocals and Down’s rhythm section. It’s a dandy combo and I’m digging it! Stream “Judas” below and the full album Devil’s Nectar here.
