Ghost Ship Octavius Debut With “Saturn and Skies”

0

Ghost Ship Octavius, the new “supergroup” featuring ex-God Forbid / ex-Himsa guitarist Matt Wicklund and ex-Nevermore drummer Van Williams, has finally set off from its berth. But not before one scratch in the hull: ex-Arch Enemy guitarist Christopher Amott departed the band last week before one song was even released.

But that event, coupled with the brand new song the band released yesterday, sharpens up the focus and scope of this project quite a bit: it’s really a whole lot more Nevermore than it is Arch Enemy. I concur with Axl’s assessment that 17-year old (!) vocalist Adon Fanion sounds a whole lot like Warrel Dane, and I think you’ll agree that the music is very Nevermore-y as well. Which is just fine with me, seeing as Nevermore is basically now defunct. Check out the new track “Saturn and Skies” below:

No word on an album name or release date yet for Ghost Ship Octavius’ debut.
