Imperial Triumphant Exploit NYC’s Riches in New Video

I didn’t know anything about Brooklyn black metal outfit Imperial Triumphant before checking out their new video for “Crushing the Idol” via Invisible Oranges, but now I’m totally sold.

For one, the song is excellent. Yeah, the black metal scene is super-saturated (especially in Brooklyn), but that ascending guitar hook in the intro (and repeated throughout) is super catchy and Imperial Triumphant seem to have their own creepy, churning twist on the genre. But it’s the video that really drew me in; if you grew up in New York City like Axl and I did you almost certainly knew kids like the ones depicted here, and the execution/directing are really well-done. Kudos all around!
