We’re a month away from the inaugural  Housecore Horror Film & Music Festival, the new fest curated by MS writer Corey Mitchell and one Mr. Philip Anselmo… and they’re STILL adding awesome acts to the bill. To wit: not only have the Melvins now been announced as part of the line-up, but Melvins drummer Dale Crover will also perform with Eyehategod, whose own drummer, Joey LaCaze, tragically passed away in August due to respiratory failure.

Here’s an official statement on the matter from Anselmo himself:

“In the wake of severe tragedy, with Eyehategod drummer Joey LaCaze passing away recently, Melvins drummer Dale Crover will be filling in for an unforgettable alliance with EHG! Dammit, you KNOW you have to see this unique performance! If you don’t have a ticket to the HHFF, get one ASAP to witness this historic event. It’ll be historic on so many levels!”

He’s not fooling around — this year marks Eyehategod’s twenty-fifth anniversary. It’s amazing that the band is persevering despite such a loss, and like Phil says, seeing them play with Dale Crover is going to be yet another very special event taking place at the fest.

Unfortunately, Crowbar have had to cancel their appearance, but, as much as I love Crowbar, this does not really feel like a big deal. I mean, holy shit, the bill already includes Down, Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, Gwar, Pig Destroyer, Goatwhore, Whitechapel, Repulsion, Hate Eternal, Warbeast, Pallbearer, Ancient VVisdom, Iron Reagan, Primitive Weapons, Lord Dying, White Widows Pact, the also-just-added-to-the-bill Blood Farmers, and a ton of other awesome bands. And that’s not even getting into the film section of the multi-day event, which will include special screenings, filmmaker Q&As and autograph sessions, and all other manner of insanity. So this is a can’t-miss party pretty much no matter what.
