1379408_10151721075568823_1867125868_nMachine Head, who left longtime label Roadrunner Records last year, have signed with Nuclear Blast Entertainment. This isn’t exactly shocking news: Nuclear Blast Entertainment is the current home of Monte Conner, the A&R legend who signed Machine Head to Roadrunner in the first place.

That makes Machine Head the third Roadrunner band to follow Conner to NBE, after Within Temptation and Soulfly, whose mastermind, Max Cavalera, has an even longer-standing relationship with Conner than the MH dudes do (Conner and Cavalera have been working together since the Sepultura days). And I doubt they’ll be the last. Other metal bands Conner signed to Roadrunner whose agreements with that label aren’t yet expired include Trivium and Slipknot. I don’t think it’s safe to assume that these bands will ALL eventually demonstrate loyalty to Conner… but I also wouldn’t be at all surprised if they did.

Only time will tell! Meanwhile, Machine Head are set to enter the studio later this month to record their first album for Nuclear Blast Entertainment, which will also be their first album with new bassist Jared MacEachern… who, oh wouldn’t cha know it, used to be in a band called Sanctity, who were signed to Roadrunner Records by Monte Conner. Small world.
