Get Mellow: Stream Russian Circles’ New Album, Memorial

Did the three previously-released songs from Russian Circles’ terrific new album, Memorial, make you desperate to hear the rest? Well, good news for you, chum: Pitchfork is now streaming the entire album in advance of its release via Sargent House next Tuesday, October 29.

I’ve yet to hear a Russian Circles album that I don’t like, but I think this could be their strongest work to date. Starting and ending with a variation on the same piece of music (the opening track “Memoriam,” is instrumental, while the closing title track features vocals from Chelsea Wolfe), Memorial feels like a complete journey. These dudes aren’t just great musicians — they’re great storytellers. Surely, this is one of the strongest albums of the year.
