Pig Destroyer Band Photo 2013Quick review of recent events: Pig Destroyer recently brought drummer Adam Jarvis’ cousin/Fulgora bandmate, John Jarvis, on board to be their bassist, which is a big deal ’cause they’ve gone bassless for the past decade-and-a-half. And so PxDx acolytes (such as myself) have been clamoring to hear what the band sounds like as a five-piece with a whole lot more low end. Alas, the only video to surface of Jarvis the Bassist performing with the band at Phil Anselmo’s Housecore Horror Film Festival last weekend was of a cover of Helmet’s “In the Meantime”

…until now! An anonymous tipster sent us the band’s new, twice as Jarvisariffic line-up performing “Cheerleader Corpses” from their seminal album, Prowler in the Yard. Okay okay okay, so the song is only thirty-five seconds long, but it’s goddamn Pig Destroyer, you’ll take what you can get and like it.

Of course, the band adding a bass player can really mean only one thing: it’s time for me to start whining about getting a new album, so we can really get a sense of what a bassist might add to their sound. Since Jesus already came through for me once and I don’t wanna ask Him for too many favors, expect an open letter to Buddha or some other such deity sometime in the next six months.
