After the Burial Deliver the Sumeriancore Goods on New Song “A Wolf Amongst Ravens”

After the Burial - Wolves WithinDo you Sumeriancore? I Sumeriancore!

When Veil of Maya debuted a brand new song last week Axl proclaimed that the Big Four of Sumeriancore are Veil of Maya, The Faceless, Periphery, and Born of Osiris. For the most part I agree with this statement (and give Axl bonus points for coining the term “Meshugary”), but I’d sub in After the Burial for The Faceless, the latter of whom I’d say aren’t really Sumeriancore at all (or at least have moved very far away from it). After the Burial to me define Sumeriancore: the groove, DAT BOUNCE, mechanized-sounding drums, operating room-level production sterility, djenty rhythms, atmospheric samples/synths and long, proggy song structures. These are the qualities I want in my Sumeriancore! Those who try and fux with it break something that wasn’t broken before.

And so: today let us all Sumeriancore together with After the Burial’s new song “A Wolf Amongst Ravens”! We first heard this one when the band played it live back in February but now we’re getting the full jamma jamma. It’ll appear on the band’s new album Wolves Within, coming December 17th, via their sub-genre’s namesake record label (with whom they recently re-upped). Pre-order the album here. Whatchoo think?
