whynotdyingfetusWell, Dying Fetus, congratulations: you officially have the best fans in the world.

When the initial line-up for next summer’s Download Festival was announced this week, Dying Fetus weren’t included. And Dying Fetus fans, being a loyal bunch, were understandably cranky about this fact.

So what did they do? They took to Twitter and other social networks en masse and demanded the band be added to the bill, utilizing the hashtag #WhyNotDyingFetus. Eventually, said hashtag started to trend, and became so popular that the fest’s organizers have listened, and Dying Fetus will now be part of Download.

Holy shit. That’s AWESOME! E-high-fives all around, dudes. Power to the people n’ all that good stuff.

Sez guitarist/vocalist John Gallagher about the victory:

“The people have spoken and now it’s time to piss in the mainstream! This started as a joke but has turned into something truly incredible! Never under estimate the power of the internet. Big thanks to all our undying fans for making this happen and for the promoters of Download for having the courage to invite us on the fest! Cheers!”

Wanna bet they make #WhyNotDyingFetus shirts to sell at the fest? Wanna bet those shirts sell out?

Download 2014 will take place from June 13-15 at Donington Park, Derbyshire. Other bands on the bill include Avenged Sevenfold, Rob Zombie, Linkin Park, and other bands that seem way out of place alongsider The Feets. Get more info here.

In more disappointing news, I just saw this on The PRP, and no, it’s not ‘shopped:
