When writing about Mudvayne bassist Ryan Martinie’s new band Kurai yesterday, I professed that I do not know what Mudvayne drummer Matthew McDonough has been up to as of late.

And then an anonymous reader e-mailed us the answer: he’s playing in a band called On the Shoulders of Giants!  And they ain’t bad, either… certainly better than Kurai. They have a very Between the Buried and Me-esque vibe; vocalist Mike Keiper even sounds an awful lot like Tommy Rogers. It’s hard for me to imagine all you tech-nerds not digging what these dudes are doing.

You can stream OTSOG’s three-song EP below. Funny enough, it was produced by Martinie. (Also worth noting: Ugly Kid Joe guitarist/one-time Slipknot producer Dave Fortman mixed it.) Alas, the band’s website doesn’t say when/if it will be officially released.
