Scar Symmetry guitarist Per Nilsson has warmed the hearts of Death Jovi fans and sci-fi nerds alike by posting the below message on the band’s Facebook page. The TLDNR version is that Scar Symmetry are making a trilogy of concept albums called The Singularity, which, in case the title didn’t tip you off, is about artificial intelligence. More specifically, it basically sounds like a hybrid of The Terminator and the upcoming Transcendence. The first album in the trilogy, The Singularity (Phase I: Neohumanity) will be released, uh, sometime soon.

And here’s the album art for The Singularity Phase I Not Gonna Type This All Every Time:

It sounds to me like this is more of a Star Wars situation (i.e., they’re planning on making a trilogy but are doing it one album at a time) than a Lord of the Rings situation (i.e., they’re making all three albums at once and releasing them individually over the course of X amount of time), which means it could ultimately be a Terminator Salvation situation (i.e., the first one bombs and they skip the sequel in favor a reboot). As long as it doesn’t turn into a Godfather situation, I’m sure fans will be happy.

Here’s a very silly video announcing the trilogy. If any of these albums ACTUALLY contain a cover of Kiss’ “I Was Made for Lovin’ You,” I will plotz.
