Surely you’re familiar with metal illustrator Mark Riddick. His artwork has adorned metal album covers and t-shirts for the past two decades, including work for The Black Dahlia Murder, Revocation, Aborted, Dying Fetus, Suffocation, Fleshgod Apocalypse and about a zillion others. In short: DEATH METAL.

And, ummm…. Volvo.

The Swedish car maker (of course Sweden, because OF COURSE) asked six illustrators to provide their own artistic interpretation of their new XC Coupe concept car, which made its debut at the Detroit auto show earlier this month. The original images of the car provided to the illustrators are posted above, with Riddick’s version below (click to enlarge). Check out how the other five illustrators responded to the task by viewing their designs here; I’ll bet you can closely guess which one we prefer.

In other news, Datsun is looking to cash in on the metal market by launching a black metal concept car in 2015. The stereo comes stock with no bass whatsoever.
