With apologies to the band, I know this picture is mad old (and Matthews isn't in the band anymore). If someone sends me a new photo I'll gladly swap it out!

One of the most influential metal bands of the past two decades is about to release new material for the first time in a long time. Get excited! Get very excited.

Serious question: does anyone who got into metal in the past ten years give a shit about Candiria? Or, to take it even further: does anyone who got into metal in the past ten years even know who Candiria are? For the sake of this argument, let’s say that includes anyone born in 1990 or later. To put that in perspective, they would’ve been five years old when Surrealistic Madness came out.

Candiria flipped metal on its head when they broke in the mid/late ’90s, and I sincerely hope their new 7″ The Invaders helps put them back on the map of metalheads at large. Yeah, it’s just a 7″ — so, two songs — and it’s limited to just 500 copies. But hopefully it’s the sign of a full album to come. It’s even got the band’s classic line-up of Carley Coma, Ken Schalk, Michael MacIvor and John LaMacchia back together again. Eddie Ortiz has stayed on as second guitarist as well, after joining before the Kiss the Lie recording sessions in 2006.

The Invaders will come out on April 29th via GIANT MKT; no pre-order is available yet, although that’ll come on April 7th.
