Karyn Crisis - Gospel of the Witches

Oh, how Ephel Duath’s 2013 album Hemmed By Light, Shaped by Darkness was such a thing of beauty! I really don’t have words for what it sounds like because it’s entirely one of a kind, other than to say that I’m sure MetalSucks reader will love it. Stream it in full right here if you missed it (or just to enjoy it once again).

Only a few months have passed since that album’s release, but already the husband-wife death metal superteam of Karyn Crisis and Davide Tiso are back at it, this time with an entirely new project called Gospel of the Witches. Danny Walker of Intronaut (and Exhumed, and Phobia, and Murder Construct, and etc etc etc) and Ross Dolan of Immolation round out the line-up and long-time BTBAM collaborator Jamie King will produce and record, making for a full “Holy shit, this is gonna be awesome” effect. Crisis and Dolan will be sharing vocal duties with Toso handling all guitars and bass. Should be quite the interesting presentation if they ever decide to take this show on the road — they’d need a bassist, for one — but one step at a time here.

Speaking of which: Gospel of the Witches need your help raising funds to record the album. They’re seeking a very reasonable $15,000 to cover the costs of recording (in the contributing musicians’ various locations), shipping and pressing, and they’re just over 1/3rd of the way there with 22 days to go. The rewards for the different pledge levels are of fair value, too — CDs, vinyls, shirts and prints are available, many of them signed, and all sorts of incredible-looking original artwork by Karyn. I can’t really see anyone shelling out for that $2,000 perk, but who knows, I’d love to proven wrong! Pledge your support on Kickstarter.
