Pitchfork has debuted (if that’s the right word for a twenty-year-old demo) Soundgarden’s 1994 demo for what would become “Black Hole Sun,” which you can stream below. It will appear on the upcoming twentieth anniversary edition of Superunknown, which comes out June 3. It basically sounds like a demo of the song we all know and love; there are, of course, some differences from the finished version, but even in this rough form, the song sounds like a megahit waiting to happen. Still, it’s a piece of rock history, so you’re probably curious to hear it. So hear it!

You can watch Soundgarden perform Superunknown in its entirety here. The band will co-headline a tour with Nine Inch Nails this summer; get dates here.
