AC/DC are going to attempt to soldier on without founding guitarist and key songwriter Malcolm Young, who reportedly suffered a stroke which has left him unable to continue on with the band. But it looks they’re still keeping it in the family: rumor suggests that Stevie Young — nephew of Malcom and legendary lead guitarist Angus Young — will taking his uncle’s spot in the band.

Reports Ultimate Classic Rock:

“An AC/DC fan claims to have photographic evidence that Stevie Young has joined the members of the band in Vancouver, where they’re working on their next studio album.

“Jeff Lorenz posted a photograph to Twitter, saying it was taken earlier this week in the city. Another user, Mike Pattonen, responded, ‘Ok so there we have it. Welcome #StevieYoung to @AC_DC – all the best guys, do it for Mal! … That guy on the right is #StevieYoung – he filled in for Mal in 1988 and it seems like he is back. Welcome Stevie!’ (The photo has since been removed.)”

So we should obviously take this with a grain of salt until the band releases some kind of statement… but as Pattonen notes, Stevie has filled-in for Malcolm before, so it does make sense that he’d fill-in for Malcolm again.

We’ll let you know as soon as more info is available. In the meantime, here’s some video of Stevie Young performing with AC/DC in ’88:
