Johan Hegg Under ArmourUpdate, 1:33 pm: The tour has been officially announced. Complete itinerary at the bottom of this post.

Lambgoat is reporting that Ticketmaster has leaked a couple of dates for an Amon Amarth tour this coming fall. One date has since been removed from the site, but the Clifton Park, NY date is still up as of this writing.

10/17 Clifton Park, NY @ Upstate Concert Hall
11/2 Des Moines, IA @ Wooly’s

The on-sale date is listed as this Friday, May 30th, so presumably this bad boy will be announced soon, maybe even later today.

Under Armour endorser Johan Hegg and The Amon Amarths have toured with Skeletonwitch before, as recently as earlier this year when they did so with Enslaved as the middle band. I think, generally speaking, that fans of one band are likely to dig the other too. But Sabaton? Everyone’s gonna be scratching their heads at this. Sure, it makes sense on some level — Sabaton are a power metal band, and Amon Amarth certainly have some elements of that in their own music, especially the farther back in their catalogue you go — but I think Amon Amarth fans are mostly going to be very confused when a clean-singing power/folk metal band comes on stage after Skeletonwitch. This is a band that will be touring later this summer with Udo and Amaranthe for chrissakes.

Or maybe I’m not giving Amon Amarth fans enough credit… maybe they’ll dig it. Like I said, there definitely is a commonality there, whatwith lyrics about vikings and war and a general beer-swilling attitude and all. It’ll be interesting to see, that’s for sure.
