Ex-Slayer Drummer Dave Lombardo Joins Amen

Given that Dave Lombardo has been collaborating with Casey Chaos on multiple projects over the past couple of years, the news that the former Slayer skinsman has joined Amen isn’t really that surprising. But I feel like it’s still pretty gross; the appeal of Amen has always been completely lost on me, and a drummer of Lombardo’s talents could probably play this shit with his drumsticks tucked between his toes and his hands working the pedals.

But I’m sure this development will make someone happy! And for that someone, here is a quote from Mr. Lombardo himself:

“I am very proud to have been asked to be part of this amazing production with Casey Chaos and [producer] Ross Robinson. My career in thrash was created from my love of the punk genre. There is an excitement in this particular style of music that’s vital for me. It’s aggressive, honest and needed. I’m looking forward to performing with Amen before returning to Europe with PHILM in September.”

So I guess this means I’m actually gonna hafta listen to the new Amen album at least once. Yucky.
