Too Soon? Emperor Rhombus’ Best of 2014… So Far

Best of 2014 So FarYou know, surprisingly, I’ve found 2014 to be a pretty solid year for metal. A lot of great stuff has come out across many genres; normally, a year is dominated by a sound or trend (The Year of Southern Lord, The Year of Progressive Black Metal, and so on), but thus far, 2014 has had gems in every niche of metal at large. That said, while there have been many interesting releases, only a few have really stuck out and warranted multiple listenings on my end. Check out the stuff I’ve decided to champion below:

Behemoth – The Satanist (Metal Blade)
Black Anvil – Hail Death (Relapse)
Crowbar – Symmetry In Black (eOne)
Eyehategod – Eyehategod (Housecore)
Hour of Penance – Regicide (Metal Blade)
Inferi – The Path of Apotheosis (The Artisan Era)
Mantar – Death By Burning (Svart)
Skull Fist – Chasing The Dream (NoiseArt)
Triptykon – Melana Chasmata (Century Media)
Vampire – Vampire (Century Media)
