Ne Obliviscaris Crowd-Funded $40,000 For a Full World Tour in Just Two Days
We knew that Ne Obliviscaris are a much-loved band; we’ve seen as much from you guys every time we post about them, and they received quite a warm reaction from the metal world at large when they signed with Season of Mist in 2013.
But holy crap, we didn’t realize the Australian progressive metallers were THIS well-loved! Just two days after launching a crowd-funding campaign for a WORLD tour, Ne Obliviscaris smashed through their goal of $40,000 AUD (about $38,000 USD) and just kept on going. We’ll stop short of calling it Protest the Hero or Devin Townsend-style levels of crowd-funding success, but dayum, that is hella impressive, especially for a band with a profile that’s seemingly much lower than either of those two acts.
Ne Obliviscaris plan to embark upon a true full world tour, Horse The Band style. They’re pledging to visit Europe, UK, North America, Australia, India, Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan and South East Asia, and if they surpass their crowd-funding goal (which, duh, they already have) they’re promising to add even more destinations. In no uncertain terms, either: “Help us reach our target of $40,000AUD and we GUARANTEE all of these tours will take place.”
Pledge here, and choose from a variety of packages. Worth noting: by far the most popular is the $95 three-song EP pack (signed, plus t-shirt, poster, etc), which the band says will be limited to 300 copies and will never be released elsewhere. 298 are already gone, snatch yours up now!
Listen to a NeO song from their 2012 album Portal Of I below. Their next album will be released via Season of Mist in the near future, we hope.
