All those teases over the past few weeks have led to this: “The Negative of One,” a new Slipknot song now available for streaming on the band’s website. It’s the band’s first without late bassist Paul Gray and drummer Joey Jordison, who was ousted from the band late last year. Presumably, the bass performance on this song is by Donnie Steele, the band’s current touring bassist… but we still have no idea who’s playing drums.

How is the song? I’ve only had time to listen once, but… I’m feeling lukewarm on it. It’s definitely closer to old Slipknot than anything from All Hope is Gone, which should make some fans happy… that being said, I don’t think it’s the band’s best work. Not by a mile.

I’m hoping it grows on me, though! There are definitely parts of it I dig — like how thick dem guitars is!
