The Acacia Strain’s Coma Witch Will Include a 28 Minute Song

The Acacia Strain Coma Witch BannerThis according to The PRP, who report that “will be released as a 2-disc set with the second disc solely featuring a 28-minute track titled ‘Observer.’” Unless I’m mistaken, the band’s longest song to date has been the eight-minutes-plus “Sun Poison and Skin Cancer” from their sophomore album, 3750. (Incidentally, that same album features the band’s shortest song to date, “Car Bomb,” which is only 1:17.)

So, there are two possibilities here: either The Acacia Strain have recorded something really long and proggy, or they’ve done some similar to Pig Destroyer’s “Natasha,” the thirty-eight minute long, not-at-all-a-grindcore song that was originally released as a bonus DVD with 2004’s Terrifyer before Relapse released it as its own standalone EP in 2008. Either way, “Observer” is potentially going to be really interesting. Or just way too fucking long and boring.

I guess we’ll find out when Coma Witch is released Ocotber 14. In the meantime, you can check out the album’s debut single, “Cauterizer,” here.
