Jason Becker, Who Has ALS, Takes the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge (On His Junk!)
Lost amidst all the viral Ice Bucket Challenge insanity has been the cause itself, ALS, a completely debilitating and devastating disease. The insanely talented guitarist Jason Becker, who teamed up with Marty Friedman in Cacaphony and played in David Lee Roth’s band for a brief stint, was diagnosed with the disease in 1989 and has lived without the ability to walk, play guitar or speak since 1996. He currently communicates using an eye-movement system designed by his father and continues to create music with the aid of a computer in spite of his extreme disability.
Becker is grateful for the awareness and money raised for ALS through the Ice Bucket Challenge, and decided to take it on himself, then nominate three very famous musicians to do the same. Watch:
