Baptists’ “Harm Induction” is Punishing, Pummeling

Baptists Band PhotoIf you are not excited about the impending release of the new Baptist album, Bloodmines, I can only assume that you have heretofore never heard Baptists before, are deaf, or just hate metal in general. Baptists’ 2013 release, Bushcraft, is more explosive than a post-White Castle diarrhea; like that album, Bloodmines was produced by Converge’s Kurt Ballou, who seems to have both a psychic gift for getting in on the ground level with awesome bands (Kvelertak, Trap Them, Meek is Murder, etc.) and supernatural inability to suck. Right now, all evidence suggests that Bloodmines is going to be vying for a spot on pretty much everyone’s 2014 year-end list.

Amongst this evidence is “Harm Induction,” a track from Bloodmines that has now premiered via Terrorizer. Let me tell you: this is some mean-spirited shit. The drums have roughly the same effect as being battered by a super-fast octopus, and the guitars are as cleansing as a kerosene bath. As my man Anso likes to say, U WILL JAM:
