Foo Fighters Covered Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” on Letterman with Country-Folk Star Zac Brown

Foo Fighters 2014You can always tell whether or not a band killed it on The Late Show by Letterman’s post-performance reaction alone. There’s Dave’s now-legendary reaction to Future Islands’ breakthrough performance on the show earlier this year, and there’s his infamous interest in whether or not the drummer brought his own kit, among all sorts of other exuberance.

So it was last night when Foo Fighters performed the Black Sabbath classic “War Pigs” with surprisingly tolerable country-folk star Zac Brown. Here’s Letterman’s reaction all cued up for you:

Clearly killed it, right?? That enthusiasm!

Of course you could’ve just watched the entire video and determined that it rules from that. Or you could completely skip the entire exercise because Dave Grohl seems to sweat pixie dust that instantly turns anything he touches into awesome. But here, check it out anyway:

Also pretty sweet, right?

Foo Fighters will be on The Late Show every night this week as part of a residency they’re doing in support of their new album Sonic Highways, out November 11th. The documentary series of the same name that follows the Foos through the recording process of the new album — in several famous studios all over the country — premieres this Friday on HBO.
