“Proving Grounds”: Attila Ask Important Questions on New Single

frozzy thinkerAttila have promised that their latest album, Guilty Pleasure, is going to be the best of 2014, and based on the first single, “Proving Grounds,” it seems inarguable that they weren’t just boasting. This song isn’t just great because the music is so sophisticated; it’s also great because of Frozzy’s gorgeously poetic lyrics, which deeply probe the human condition. For example, when the song opens, Frozzy sings:

“Take up a pretty stick and stick up a butt up in your motherfucking nose!”

So, already, your mind = blown.

But then shit gets really profound at the 1:25 mark, when Frozzy asks this question for the ages:

“So who’s the faggot now?”

He even repeats the question multiple times, because this is truly a riddle worthy of the Sphinx, and he wants to emphasize its importance.

So… who IS the faggot now? Is it basoon players? Those whose discard cigarette butts on the street? Or perhaps the twenty-four-year-old man who still uses a homophobic slur as an insult? This is an issue with which philosophers have struggled for as long as anyone can remember, and Man has yet to find an adequate answer. I invite you all to posit your theories in the comments section below. Well, except for the faggots. They should obviously stay out of it.
