UPDATE: An official press release stated that drugs were not involved. More info here.

Original Post:

Static-X frontman and founder Wayne Static has died. He was only 48 years old, just a few days shy of his 49th birthday, and was scheduled to hit the road with Powerman 5000 and Drowning Pool later this year. The cause of death has not been officially released as of the time of this post, although an Instagram post by Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach (embedded below) would seem to indicate that Static died of a drug overdose.

We liked to poke fun at Static’s music and unique haircut here at MetalSucks, but it should go without saying that we would never wish him any harm, and it’s a terrible shame when any member of our community passes, let alone at such a young age. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
