bloodlashBloodlash
Drowning Amidst The Nebulae EP (Inverse)
On a playlist with: Arch Enemy, Hyopcrisy, Bloodbath
Listen Drowning Amidst The Nebulae EP full stream (here)

A metalhead is required to think like a marketer, or even an entrepreneur. You gotta see if there’s talent or “something fresh” buried underneath bad judgement (like poor production). This is your approach to Bloodlash’s Drowning Amidst The Nebulae EP, a bombshell of budding, sweaty talent in need of guidance. Bloodlash’s songwriting and riff abilities are noteworthy, and if you can hear it, then more power to you!

Cretin - StrangerCretin
Stranger (Relapse)
On a playlist with: Kill The Client, Noisear, Sayyadina
Listen “It” (hereStranger full stream (here)

For any of you looking for a grind album as a holiday present (for yourself, duh), look no further! Cretin have been studio dormant for eight years, but Stranger will punch your eyes shut. What turns off listeners to grind is the raw simplicity and short-form songwriting. But there’s something complicated and mysterious about Stranger. You gotta feel it.

CentinexCentinex
Redeeming Filth (Agonia)
On a playlist with: Demonical, Aggressor, Dismember
Listen Redeeming Filth full stream (here)

Damn: When a vocalist makes others look weak. Centinex’s Alex Hogbom is a total old-school beast, and Redeeming Filth has no qualms making liberal use of his fuck-you-up-man-ness. The rest Centinex is good enough throwback DM riffage and those old, nostalgic rockable feels. Skip to “Stone Of Choice” to get what’s going on. And there are plenty of vocal climaxes peppered throughout Redeeming Filth which keep you wishing that everybody could bark and growl like that.

·

Execration Morbid DimensionsExecration
Morbid Dimensions (Hells Headbangers)
On a playlist with: Obliteration, Swallowed, Diskord
Listen Morbid Dimensions full stream (here)

“Experimental” is the key word with Morbid Dimensions, but not in the post-apocalyptic zombie “oh let’s see if bananas are the cure” laboratory sense. Sure, a band can try something completely new as an experiment, but you know it’s real when the experiment becomes the band! That is, Morbid Dimensions is a wonky album because Execration are wonky. And if you’re like me, the weirder the better — as long as it’s true.

DrapDråp
En Naturlig Död (Xtreem)
On a playlist with: \m/ \m/ \m/
Listen En Naturlig Död full stream (here)

This is you (probably). This is you on Dråp!

·

Thaw Earth GroundThaw
Earth Ground (Witching Hour)
On a playlist with: Krallice, Eskhaton, Spectral Lore
Listen Earth Ground full stream (here)

Huge black metal. It allows so much room for dynamics, innovation, and power — but only if artists don’t overdo it. On Earth Ground, Thaw kicks other albums off your playlist to make room for its impressive scope and its ability to tug on your earstrings listen after listen. Catchy doesn’t have to be so catchy, now does it?
