news quickie 12_22Hi everybody! Although we’re not doing any regular posting again until 2015, I thought I’d quickly share some interesting shit I saw in my RSS this morning. I’m like your RSS for my RSS!

Okay here we go:

  • Soon-to-be-former AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd gave this totally fucknuts video interview regarding his recent legal woes. Revelations include that he has a bodyguard he calls “kangaroo” who gives him regular piggyback rides (srsly) and that he thinks “I’m going back to work with AC/DC, I don’t care who likes it or who doesn’t.” I kinda think he should care if Angus Young likes it or not, though, because he probably has a big say in who gets to be in the band, and another nephew waiting in the wings to hop on drums.
  • Speaking of drummers: soon-to-be-former Shadows Fall drummer Jason Bittner has joined Floatsam and Jetsam. That makes him the second Shad to join a classic thrash band (after guitarist Jon Donais, who is now in Anthrax, in case you somehow haven’t heard). Coming soon: news that Matt Bachand is the new guitarist for Megadeth.
  • Speaking of speaking of drummers: Zakk Wylde led his former Ozzy bandmate Blasko and drummer John Tempesta (who has played with everyone) in a set of Sabbath covers at the Roxy in Hollywood, under the moniker “Zakk Sabbath.” You can watch video of the performance here. Poor Zakk must curse the day he chose the guitar over the drums, ’cause he could actually be in Black Sabbath now.
  • Not speaking of drummers: The Safety Fire has split with bassist Lori Peri. So far there has been no confirmation to the rumor that he will be replaced by Lori Petty.
  • Through the Eyes of the Dead have released a one-minute demo. It sounds like Through the Eyes of the Dead.
