New-and-Improved Lord Dying are “Offering Pain” in the Form of Siqq Riffs

Lord DyingLike my good pal Axl, Lord Dying’s 2013 debut full-length, Summon the Faithless, didn’t really make much of an impression on me. Quoth Axl: “I didn’t dislike it or anything — it just didn’t stand apart from the crowd.”

But we’ve now heard three full songs from Lord Dying’s new album Poisoned Altars, and I’m very much starting to come around. The band has seemingly one-upped every element of their sound this time around: the riffs are catchier, the grooves are heavier, the production is clearer, and, most importantly, the songs are more cohesive. “A Wound Outside of Time” and “An Open Sore” were our two introductions to this new-and-improved LD (not to be confused with Long Balls Larry “LD” David), and now we’ve got “Offering Pain,” which premiered yesterday on Wondering Sound, and you can stream below.

Poisoned Altars comes out January 27 on Relapse. You can pre-order physical copies here and digital copies here.
