MorgothGood news for old-school death metal fans: after releasing their first new music since 1996 this past August on the God is Evil 7″ (listen here), Morgoth have announced that they’ll be releasing a full-length album this spring, their third overall. Huzzah!

Ungod will come out on March 30th in Europe and April 7th in North America via Century Media Records. Here’s what the band had to say about the album via press release:

After 18 years we can finally present a first glimpse at our new full-length album, Ungod! We started with the songwriting in January 2013 and finished the recording process by the end of December 2014. It was an awesome experience to go through the sometimes very complex and challenging process of writing and recording an album again.

Our goal was to present some real Morgoth-style Death Metal, which closes the gap between Cursed and Odium. We hope that we have achieved this goal and our supporters and friends will like the final outcome.

As you might expect, the new album announcement comes along with one of its tracks to stream, “Black Enemy,” which we’ve embedded below. As a “supporter and friend” of Morgoth, what do you think of it? Not having been cool enough to be a fan of Morgoth the first time around in 1996 I don’t really feel qualified to comment on how it stacks up against their older material, but taken on its own merit I think it rips pretty damn hard and it gets me muy excitebike to hear Ungod in full. Check it out and let us know what you think.
