Watch: 11-Year-Old Drummer Covers Slipknot, Nails It

0

Ten-year-old drumming phenom Nandi Bushell, who made international headlines last fall through a multi-round online drum battle with Dave Grohl (and had been making a name for herself with impressive drum covers of Metallica, System of a Down and others well before that), has released a new clip of herself covering Slipknot’s “Duality,” the second song by The Nine she’s tackled. And, no surprise, she absolutely kills it!

In a post accompanying the video, Bushell mentions both current Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg and his predecessor, Joey Jordison, as inspirations, with a special nod to Weinberg. Weinberg took notice of the post and gave Bushell props, offering a retweet and some encouraging words of his own (“always crushing it”).

Bushell, who dons Weinberg’s Slipknot mask for the video, says Slipknot are one of her favorite bands and that she often listens to them when going to bed.

You can watch the cover below.

An earlier version of this article incorrectly reported Bushell’s age as 10; she is now 11.
