Gee, I Wonder What Kind of Music Unrest Play?

Unrest - GrindcoreNot since Venom’s Black Metal has a metal album announced the subgenre into which it fits*, and Venom weren’t even really playing black metal, or aware that they were christening a new genre.

So it’s ballsy of Unrest (featuring members of Woe, TrenchRot and Crypt Sermon) to just go ahead and name their album Grindcore. The title could be read as a bold statement of status (i.e., “We define this genre!”), or as just dudes being funny and self-deprecating (i.e., “Oh, like anyone gives a fuck what the album is called anyway.”) Regardless of your interpretation, you can’t accuse Unrest of being ironic: they most certainly do play grindcore.

And play it very well! Evidence: “Inaction,” the new track which has just debuted on Metal Insider. It is a serious scrotum-ripper/vag-puncher, the kind of song that leaves you feeling like you may need dental work.

Go here to listen. Grindcore comes out March 24 on Unspeakable Axe Records, and can be pre-ordered here. You can also check out two other songs, “Quit” (courtesy of Apochs) and “Anything to Shock” (courtesy of no one in particular), below.

*Well, arguably Municipal Waste’s Massive Aggressive. Oh, also Five Finger Death Punch’s Boring as Fuck. Can’t believe I forgot that one.
