The Agonist - Eye of ProvidenceThe Agonist’s new album, Eye of Providence, is the first album by the Canadian New Wave of American Heavy Metal band that I’ve ever really enjoyed. I’m not entirely sure why this is the case. Maybe I just didn’t pay close enough attention to them in the past. Maybe their songwriting skills have grown stronger. Maybe I’m feeling nostalgic for this particular breed of metal given the recent loss of several great bands specializing in the genre (God Forbid, Chimaira, Shadows Fall, etc.). Maybe new vocalist Vicky Psarakis is superior to former vocalist Alissa White-Gluz (I really don’t hear a significant difference between the two, but in the name of science, I will acknowledge the line-up change). Maybe I’m just getting soft in my old age.

Whatever the reason, it’s ultimately irrelevant — the bottom line is, this album is pretty good, and you should listen to it. And now you can, thanks to Revolver! Stream it below, then head to the comments section to tell me why I’m right or wrong. I mean I really don’t care what you think, but, y’know, it’s a free country.

Eye of Providence comes out February 24 on Century Media.
