Ill Niño Release Statement Regarding Otep/Terror Universal Controversy; Neither Band Will Be on Civil Unrest Tour

Yesterday, Otep Shamaya announced that her band was dropping off the Civil Unrest Tour — which was also set to feature Ill Niño, Kittie, and 36 Crazyfists — because allegedly the singer of a recently added opening band, Terror Universal, “violently grabbed [her] crotch on our last tour.” This is obviously a very serious accusation… so it’s no suprise that Ill Niño have now released the below statement distancing themselves from the controversy:

“ILL  NINO does not condone any forced act of violence or sexual nature towards any human beings, nor will we tolerate violations of one’s personal space.  This also goes for cyber-bullying, or making demeaning comments towards ANYONE on social media.  We strongly support equality for all.

“We would like to draw closure by stating that the CIVIL UNREST TOUR will continue without participation from either OTEP or TERROR UNIVERSAL.  We’re looking forward to hitting the road, reuniting with our fans and friends, and also sharing the stage with our tour brothers, and sisters, KITTIE & 36 CRAZYFISTS.  Stay tuned, more bands to be added!!”

I’m a little confused as to why Otep is still off the bill if Terror Universal is also off the bill; maybe because Otep’s accusations are technically still unproven? In any case, a leaked admat for the tour reveals who the additional bands on the bill will be:

Civil Unrest Tour Temporary PosterSo, basically, it’s still 36 Crazyfists and a bunch of really shitty bands. Whoopee.
