Before there were blogs there were these things called magazines, and the only metal magazine we still get excited about reading every month is Decibel. Here’s managing editor Andrew Bonazelli…

The 2015 Decibel Magazine Tour is just four dates away from becoming death. Tonight, At the Gates, Converge, Pallbearer and Vallenfyre hit one of North America’s epicenters of death metal, Montreal! (Reminder: the show was moved to the Corona Theatre.) Then it’s off to the east coast to end this shit in style, first in Boston on Friday (only 150 tickets left), then sold-out swansongs in Philly and New York (followed by, of course, Vallenfyre’s free afterparty Sunday night at Saint Vitus in Brooklyn.) And after that, the coup de grace: our editor-in-chief’s head explodes, Scanners-style, in the process of curating and actualizing the 2016 lineup! That said, you can catch Albert’s last, relatively peaceful moments on this planet: selling copies of his revised and expanded Choosing Death at the Philly show and the Vallenfyre gig at Vitus.

For a tour that lasted just three weeks, there was no shortage of ups and downs: namely Vallenfyre frontman Gregor Mackintosh decimating his knee, yet soldiering on to complete his death/doom supergroup’s first sustained domestic tour. Luckily, the critics are throwing two horns up, from Doc Coyle of long-long-ago dB cover stars God Forbid to Geeks of Doom and Lithium Magazine. We know that you guys aren’t as polite, but hopefully we’ll see you bangin’ and boozin’ at the last couple shows anyway.
