Heights-Phantasia-On-The-High-Processions-Of-Sun-Moon-And-Countless-Stars-Above-album-artA couple of months ago we told you about Heights, a progressive, instrumental three piece featuring TesseracT drummer Jamie Postones.

Don’t let the TesseracT link fool you, though, because other than Postones’ association Heights sound nothing like the drummer’s day job. Postones, guitarist Al Heslop and bassist John Hopkins have crafted something truly singular here; it’s progressive, it’s vaguely jazzy, it’s experimental, it’s heady as fuck… and it’s not even metal, although it is heavy. It’s just good. And if you dig forward-thinking, experimental, progressive music then you’re surely gonna like it. The real star here might by Heslop, whose guitars are positively gorgeous and completely arresting, though all three musicians carry their weight incredibly well and shine through in the mix.

Phantasia On The High Processions Of Sun, Moon And Countless Stars Above is the outfit’s third album, and it will come out on April 27th via Basick Records. Stream it below in full, and enjoy! Order it on CD or on iTunes.
