The Housecore Horror Fest Will Return for a Third Year

0

Housecore Horror Festival IIIWhen Housecore Horror Festival founder and MetalSucks contributor Corey Mitchell passed away in the hours following the Austin, TX fest’s sophomore event this past October we were just gutted. Corey devoted hundreds of hours to writing for MetalSucks, was a loving father and husband, an accomplished author and one helluva dude. He’d also put all the energy he had into getting the Housecore Horror Fest off the ground, and to see him pass when it was finally hitting its stride was all the more tragic.

So it’d be understandable if the fest’s co-founder, Phil Anselmo, decided to put the horror film and metal music mash-up event to bed. But that’s not at all what’s happening: in a post to the festival’s Facebook page last Friday, Anselmo revealed that he’ll be keeping the tradition alive with the festival’s third year, with an “official announcement coming soon.” No further details are available.

Anselmo’s a super-busy dude (shit, just earlier today we posted about yet ANOTHER new band he’s working on), but if anyone’s got the resources at their disposal to keep Housecore Horror Fest going, it’s him. It’s his name-sake after all! And he’s always proven especially adept at staying in touch with the scene and following and discovering top-tier new metal bands.

More details as we get ’em.
