Melvins / Le ButcherettesMelvins are nothing short of prolific: they release new music more often than Axl makes typos, and they’ve been doing it since nineteen-frickin-eighty-six. Full-length album Hold It In came out this past October (after TWO full releases the year before), but that’s no reason not to keep plugging along: they’ve teamed up with Le Butcherettes, with whom they’ll be on tour this summer, to release a split EP called Chaos as Usual. It’ll be available on CD and 10-inch vinyl and can only be purchased if you go and see said tour in the flesh.

Melvins have now shared “Captain Comedown,” one of the tracks from the EP, embedded below. That’s one thunderously delicious looping riff, just the kind of heft and stomp we’ve come to consistently expect from this band. The bass line comes courtesy of Butthole Surfers’ Jeff Pinkus, by the way.

If you’re planning on checking out Melvins on tour this summer, make sure you get there early: we saw Le Butcherettes open for Faith No More in NYC last week and they were definitely worth catching.

"Captain Comedown" track from our tour 10". This one features Pinkus (Butthole Surfers/TeamHonky) slinging bass. Enjoy….this is NOT an "Empty Box" contest video.
