Awesome New Band of the Day: In the Presence of Wolves

0

In the Presence of WolvesMusic discovery is an odd beast. What most people are looking for, it seems, is a band that sounds KIND OF like one of their favorites, but has their own unique vibe and chemistry; the same, but different. I’m not being an elitist — I totally group myself into this category. No one wants to hear clones, and, for the most part, no one wants shit that’s completely out of left field either.

In the case of In the Presence of Wolves the easiest touchstone is Protest the Hero, but they’re by no means a copycat band. Really it’s just the tonality and vocal approach that have the PTH vibe and everything else is different. I really enjoy the lead guitar work here; it’s bluesy and simple in a way that you rarely hear in modern metal, but the band’s overall approach is progressive and groovy and plenty heavy. I dig, at least from the lone song I’ve heard, “Storm in a Red Dress,” for which they’ve just released a video. Check it out below.
