Guitar Hero Live: Will U Jam It?

0

Guitar Hero LiveGuitar Hero swept the nation in the mid ’00s like few videogame phenomena I’ve ever witnessed. All anyone ever wanted to do for a couple of years there was sit in front of the TV and press those colored buttons along to “Cowboys From Hell” and “Through the Fire and the Flames.” I wouldn’t be surprised if the bar industry suffered a notable drop during those years because no one ever wanted to leave the damn house.

But years have gone by, and things are different now. The Guitar Hero franchise is going through a reboot of sorts with a new installation called Guitar Hero Live, coming out this fall. Has enough time passed that Guitar Hero nostalgia will be in full effect — and have the game’s creators spiced up the gameplay enough — or are people just over it?

Time will tell, but for now we’ve got this super-sweet list of songs that’ll be included in the game. It certainly bodes well. Check it out:

Alice In Chains – “Stone”
Bullet For My Valentine – “Temper Temper”
Wolfmother – “Sundial”
Queen – “Tie Your Mother Down”
Weezer– “Buddy Holly”
Deap Vally – “Lies”
Angus & Julia Stone – “A Heartbreak”
Catfish and the Bottlemen – “Kathleen”
Neon Trees – “Everybody Talks”
New Politics – “Harlem”
Pantera – “Cowboys From Hell”
Judas Priest – “Breaking the Law”
Rage Against the Machine – “Guerrilla Radio”
Black Veil Brides – “In The End”
Pierce the Veil – “King for a Day (feat. Kellin Quinn)”
The Black Keys – “Gold on the Ceiling”
Blitz Kids – “Sometimes”
Ed Sheeran – “Sing”
Fall Out Boy – “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)”
Gary Clark, Jr. – “Don’t Owe You a Thang”
Green Day – “Nuclear Family”
The Killers – “When You Were Young”
The Lumineers – “Ho Hey”
My Chemical Romance – “Na Na Na”
The Rolling Stones – “Paint it Black”
Skrillex – “Bangarang”
The War on Drugs – “Under the Pressure”
Sleigh Bells – “Bitter Rivals”
System of a Down – “Chop Suey!”
Alter Bridge – “Cry of Achilles”
Alt-J – “Left Hand Free”
Broken Bells – “Leave It Alone”
Red Hot Chili Peppers – “Higher Ground”
The Pretty Reckless – “Going to Hell”
Deftones – “Diamond Eyes”
Marilyn Manson – “Disposable Teens”
Killswitch Engage – “In Due Time”

Bring Me The Horizon – “Shadow Moses”
Of Mice & Men – “Bones Exposed”
Trivium – “Strife”
Royal Blood – “Little Monster”
Vista Chino – “Sweet Remain”
Marmozets – “Move Shake Hide”

Plenty of shredder-friendly acts in there. I’m optimistic. I do feel like perhaps it’s been long enough that I could get into Guitar Hero again? And, from the looks of the official trailer, the game play is VERY different… in a really cool way. Check it out:
