Watch Footage of Slayer Performing Two New Songs Live for the First Time

slayer seven poud version of repentlessMayhem Fest kicked off this past weekend in San Diego, CA (dates here), and as has become de rigueur these days fan-filmed footage of the affair has started popping up on all corners of the Internet.

For you, this means some pretty decent footage of Slayer playing two of the new songs they’ve released this year, “When the Stillness Comes” and album title-track “Repentless” (click for studio versions), which you can watch below via The PRP. I’m of the Emperor Rhombus school of thought that “Stillness” is the superior jam, if only because it’s a little bit different for Slayer; it’s not ground-breaking or anything (it’s Slayer, after all), but the slowed-down vibe is a nice change of pace and shows that Araya and King are at least trying a little to keeps things spicy. It translates live, too; much as we all like to headbang at Slayers shows sometimes we need a break to drink more beer.

Repentless comes out on September 11th and can be pre-ordered here. There is also an uber-special-edition “Metal Eagle” box set thingie (pictured above) they’re selling for $180; we’re kind of an a relationship with it, but it’s complicated.
