“Sharp Fangs, Pale Flesh:” Get Snake-Bitten by a Temptress with Coliseum’s New Video
Fun: when a band you love is getting ready to release a new album and the media machine kicks into high gear to promote it, giving you — the adoring fan — new tracks, interviews, photos, backstory and all sorts of other goodies in which to revel.
Even more fun: when that album release run-up includes all sorts of video goodies. Even MORE more fun: when it’s Coliseum, a band that’s always taken great pride in making interesting and engaging music videos that are a far cry from your typical “band headbanging in a warehouse” stock clip.
We already posted Coliseum’s videos for “Sunlight in a Snowstorm” and “We are the Water, both released before the album dropped in May, and now we get one for “Sharp Fangs, Pale Flesh.” The video was directed and edited by Coliseum vocalist / guitarist Ryan Patterson, and stars Will Oldham (aka Bonnie “Prince” Billy) as a snake-charming, religious recluse who’s tempted by the dark side, a hooded menace played by Katie Peabody.
