After the Burial Issue Statement on Justin Lowe, Drop Off Summer Slaughter Tour

0

R.I.P. Justin LoweThe After the Burial camp has been mum since the tragic passing of guitarist Justin Lowe last week. While we all expected they’d probably cancel their appearance on this year’s Summer Slaughter tour, we were holding out a sliver of hope that they’d decide to continue in his honor.

Unfortunately that’s not the case, as the band just announced via Facebook. Quite simply, the band members have far more important things to deal with right now, and playing metal shows is likely the last of their concerns. Here’s the statement in full:

In the wake of our loss, it comes with heavy hearts to inform everyone that we have decided not to perform on this years Summer Slaughter tour. The recent events have been unimaginably heartbreaking, and Justin’s passing is something that each of us needs time with our families and friends to recover from.

Justin Lowe’s story may have a sad ending, but the legacy he leaves us is one that should do nothing but inspire.

From the bottom of our hearts, we’d like to thank everyone who has reached out in support and with kind words for him, his family, and us. It has been truly amazing to see all the people whose lives he impacted in a positive way.

May the summer off provide some much-needed time of reflection, rest and healing for the members of After the Burial and for Justin’s family and friends. We’re sure we haven’t heard the last of this band, and we’ll welcome their return whenever they’re ready.
